Supporting the local community is important to us here at The MilTon, and children are a big part of it!
We wanted to share a youth event happening right here in Vernon Hills for ages 6-12:
A swim, bike, and run, for kids!
This is a great way to get outside and remain active during the summer, and it’s not too late to register.
The Mighty Kids Triathlon features swimming in the Lakeview pool, biking in Deerpath park, and then running in the park to finish. Distance is based on the kids’ age, and every participant gets an event t-shirt, grab bag, drinks, and a medal. First-place finishers from each age group will receive a trophy. Updates on state regulations can be found on the Vernon Hills Park District website.
It’s always good to get out and connect with other kids when school is not in session. Our friends at the Vernon Hills Park District are holding the Mighty Kids Triathlon on Sunday, August 8th, from 8 am to 12 pm. The event takes place at Lakeview Fitness Center (700 Lakeview Parkway). Children ages 6 – 12 are encouraged to join in on the fun and can come to watch even without participating.
The age groups for the event are as follows:
6 – 7 years – swim for 25 yards, bike for 1 mile, and run for .5 mile
8 – 10 years – swim for 50 yards, bike for 2 miles, and run for 1 mile
11 – 12 years – swim for 100 yards, bike for 2 miles, and run for 1 mile
Registration Deadline: August 5 at 11 am
Parent Meeting/Packet Pick-Up: August 6 at 6 pm
